Heat Transfer and Dye Sublimation
Heat Transfer
Heat transfer is the process of transferring substances such as vinyl, silicone, and others to a garment using a combination of heat and pressure.
The vinyl heat transfer method uses a machine to cut out a design in pieces of the designated material, and then a heat press is used to press each piece of material onto the garment being designed. The digital print heat transfer method prints the desired graphic onto heat transfer paper with solvent ink before pressing the graphic onto the garment.
Dye Sublimation
Dye sublimation is another type of heat transfer method. Dye sublimation printing is a digital printing technique that uses full-color designs with substrates coated in polymer and polyester.
The image is printed onto transfer paper and then pressed onto a polyester cloth blend, and the heat causes the ink to bond permanently with the polymers in the material.
